Hello, and welcome!

I'm David Núñez, a writer of Jane Austen fanfiction, particularly stories that embrace slow-burn romance and character-driven narratives. If you enjoy Pride and Prejudice variations with a cozy, wholesome tone, you're in the right place.

Truth be told, I never set out to write fanfiction, let alone publish it, yet here I am, with my first novella, Letter to Georgiana, now available for pre-order.

Like many others, I stumbled into the world of Jane Austen-inspired stories almost by accident, years ago, when I came across a YouTube web series called The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I already loved Pride and Prejudice, of course, but this modern retelling opened a door I hadn’t known existed. A door to a whole community of readers and writers who weren’t just adapting Austen’s characters, but deepening them, challenging them, loving them in ways that felt more real than even some traditionally published fiction.

From that day on, I was hooked. And somehow, over the years, I went from reading variations… to writing them.

What to Expect from Letters from Longbourn

What kind of stories will I share here?

My stories live in the space between glances and letters, where feelings are repressed until they bloom, where character growth is quiet but powerful.

Expect variations where change springs from a single, pivotal moment:
a letter sent by mistake, a long-repressed truth finally spoken, or a conversation overheard at just the wrong—or right—time.

I love exploring how small shifts ripple through familiar stories, reshaping characters from the inside out. And I have a special fondness for giving side characters their moment to shine—Georgiana, Mary, Kitty, even Mr. Bennet—each of them carrying more than they’re often given credit for.

How often will I post?

I plan to share something at least twice a week, sometimes a chapter from a work in progress, sometimes a bonus scene that didn’t make it into the final book, and occasionally a reflection on the writing process itself.

Will there be full stories?

Yes! I’ll be sharing chaptters from my current novella-in-progress, A House of Daughters.

You’ll also find the occasional standalone short story here, perfect for when you want a complete tale in a single sitting.

Paid vs Free?

For now, and for the foreseeable future, everything I share here is free. Think of this Substack as a cozy reading nook: stories, scenes, and reflections offered without a paywall, just for the joy of sharing them.

What you can do:

  • Subscribe to get new posts delivered directly to your inbox.

  • Share with friends who love cozy Austenesque fiction.

  • Reply or comment if something resonates. I’d love to hear from you.

I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. May this corner of the internet feel a little like Longbourn: a bit chaotic, often heartfelt, and always full of story.
