I like the specifics that come from the current titles. The Earl's Grandson is exactly what defines him. He is not a peer himself, but was brought up as the grandson of an Earl I rather like Gentlean farmer too, but I think Gentleman works as well.

The comment by the Gentleman Farmer that the harvest could not be ignored doesn't work with the calendar of Georgiana's visit to Ramsgate. I found the error disruptive.

Could you elaborate on this a bit more? I’d really like to understand where I might be going wrong with the seasonal timeline. It’s possible that, since I’m not British, my understanding of the agricultural calendar is off, especially in terms of when the harvest typically happens. I’d appreciate any clarification you can offer!

According to Darcy’s letter, Georgiana was at Ramsgate last summer, which would place her there during the typical summer months, likely June through August, or possibly into early September at the latest.

At that time of year, Darcy would likely have been occupied with overseeing estate matters at Pemberley. In many parts of the world, including where I live, summer is a crucial season for preparing or managing the harvest, and I assume similar responsibilities would have kept him busy in Derbyshire.

One clue that reinforces this is Darcy’s comment that his visit to Ramsgate was unexpected. I interpret this to mean that Wickham and Mrs. Younge deliberately chose that window as the ideal time to target Georgiana. They would have expected him to stay tied to Pemberley during such an important season, making it safer for them to execute their plan without interference.

I think there is a reference to Georgiana's anguish being of more than a month's duration when Darcy was convinced to join Bingley at Michalmas. Most references I see to the harvest are September and October. I'd need to go back to P & P to recheck those relevant passages. ( I'm not British either and have no personal knowledge of their harvest seasons by region.)

This is so interesting! I love a Jane Austen retelling and can’t wait to read through everything you’ve written!

Internal schizophrenia becomes an interesting premise for Darcy. The concept of a boardroom table where men with seven different personality traits come together to form someone who may be one of the most interesting renditions of Darcy.

This may prove to be a fantastic journey! Looking forward to reading more. Great start!

I’m so glad you decided to go with this. Just “the Gentleman “ won’t really account for his interest in the land, and dirt under the fingernails. I would either keep it as is, or just call him the Farmer. But whatever you decide will be good I’m sure.

I love the premise of Fitzwilliam Darcy having what can best be described as high functioning D.I.D. disassociative identity disorder aka multiple personality disorder.
